Power BI Microsoft

Use Power BI in your Crisp app.

Query the semantic models behind your reports.

People sign in with their Microsoft account and your app can run DAX queries against the semantic models their Power BI reports use, reusing the measures and row-level security your BI team maintains. Give the app registration the delegated Dataset.Read.All and Workspace.Read.All Power BI permissions. This connector reads from Power BI. It does not embed reports or refresh models. One Entra app registration can be reused for every Microsoft connector.

What you need.

Sign in with your Power BI account in a new window and choose what your app may do. Crisp keeps the sign-in and hands your app a fresh token whenever it needs one, so no key is ever pasted or stored in your app.

Prefer your own Power BI app? Paste its client id and secret instead, and your app runs the sign-in itself on your own pages:

Application (client) id
POWER_BI_CLIENT_ID
entra.microsoft.com, App registrations, your app, Overview (one registration serves every Microsoft connector). A UUID
Client secret
POWER_BI_CLIENT_SECRET
The same app, Certificates and secrets. The Value column, shown once
Tenant id optional
POWER_BI_TENANT_ID
The same Overview page, Directory (tenant) id. Leave empty to allow any Microsoft account (common)
Default semantic model id optional
POWER_BI_DATASET_ID
app.powerbi.com, open the model. The UUID after /datasets/ in the address. The app can list and switch models without it Get it

How to connect.

  1. Open your project, or start a new one from the dashboard.

  2. Open the workspace menu and choose Connectors, then pick Power BI.

  3. Choose what your app may do and press Connect. You approve it with Power BI in a new window, and your app can use the service from then on.

Then ask for the feature

  • “Show revenue by region from our Power BI model”
  • “Put the top KPIs from Power BI on the home page”

What happens to your keys.

  • Each key is saved as a private setting of your project, under the name shown above.
  • The AI that builds your app sees only the names. It writes code that reads each key by name, and never the value.
  • The values reach your preview and your published app, and never the chat, the code or the logs.
  • Open Connectors in your project to replace a key or disconnect the service. Publish again so your live app uses the change.

Ask for the feature, and Crisp builds it with Power BI.
